Pia Wurtzbach on Saturday took to social media to cheer on Binibining Pilipinas Universe Gazini Ganados on her bid to clinch a consecutive crown for the Philippines.
Sharing photos of her with Gazini on Instagram, she wrote: “Good luck kisses from me to you! The whole Philippines is rooting for you [Gazini] and I always got your back girl! You were born to do this. Go get that crown.”
In a separate post, the Miss Universe 2015 titleholder declared a "back-to-back win" for the country at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant as it kicked off the preliminaries round, which is co-hosted by reigning queen Catriona Gray, in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday (Saturday in Manila).
In the competition, Gazini captivated the audience in her gold evening gown and Philippine Eagle-inspired national costume-- both created by Cebu-based couturier Cary Santiago--as well as her “Phoenix Walk” as she sauntered across the stage during the swimsuit presentation.
The preliminary round will determine who will advance to the semifinals during the finals on Sunday (early Monday in Manila).
Miss Universe 2019 airs on Dec. 9 at 8 a.m. on ABS-CBN and on its streaming platform, iWant.
