Catriona Gray could not help but turn emotional over her last day as reigning Miss Universe.
On Instagram, the Filipina-Australian beauty queen admitted feeling a mix of emotions on the last few hours of her one-year reign.
“My last night as reigning [Miss Universe] and my emotions are all over the place,” she wrote.
“But underneath the noise, the underlying tone is gratitude. Gratitude for this amazing opportunity... for all of you amazing souls who have endlessly supported me and joined me on this journey. My message tomorrow night is dedicated to each and every one of you. 1 day to go.... #MissUniverse,” she added.
In the comments, Pia Wurtzbach, the Miss Universe 2015 titleholder, congratulated Catriona and praised the reigning queen for “setting bar high”.
“You really inspired so many people, including me! Thank you for raising our flag,” she said.
Currently, Catriona is in Atlanta, Georgia to pass on her crown in the finals round of the Miss Universe 2019, to be held at the Tyler Perry Studios on Sunday (early Monday in Manila).
Binibining Pilipinas Universe Gazini Ganados is aiming for a back-to-back win for the country. The Philippines currently has four Miss Universe titleholders – Catriona, Pia Wurtzbach (2015), Margie Moran (1973), and Gloria Diaz (1969).
