This year’s Metro Manila Film Festival Best Picture, Mindanao, is ‘a movie with a cause.’ In an Instagram post of the lead actress Judy Ann Santos, she shared that "portion of the movie gross earned for its entire run will be donated to the KyThe Foundation.”
Kythe Foundation is a non-profit, non-stock organization that aims to help children with cancer and other chronic illness. Based in Quezon City, the foundation has branches in Cebu and Davao.
Mindanao bagged eleven awards during the MMFF 2019 Gabi Ng Parangal last December 27. Among those are four major awards such as Best Picture, Best Actress (Judy Ann), Best Actor (Allen Dizon), and Best Director (Brillante Mendoza).
Aside from the MMFF, the movie has already been recognized internationally, with Best Director and Best Actress awards at the Cairo International Film Festival.
