MMFF Best Actress Judy Ann Santos dedicated her award to her family and the people of Mindanao.
With her film Mindanao emerging as the big winner during the 45th Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal held last December 27, Judy Ann Santos said she missed the feeling of participating in the Metro Manila Film Festival when we she went onstage to accept her award for Best Lead Actress. "Matagal tagal ko ng hindi nagawa ito. Medyo na-miss ko 'to. Salamat ng maraming marami sa bumubuo ng MMFF, MMDA at sa lahat ng cast and crew sa likod ng Mindanao. Direk Brillante (Mendoza) thank you so much for sharing your talent with me, habang buhay ko itong i-treasure. Isa itong experience na hinding hindi ako magsasawang ikuwento ng paulit ulit," she said.
Juday dedicated her award to the people of Mindanao as well as to her fans and loved ones. "Sa mga kapatid naming Muslim na tumulong sa amin buohin ang pelikulang ito, para po sa inyo ito. And of course, to my mom, my brother, and my sister, kasama kayo dito. To our three beautiful children, dahil sa kanila nabuo ko ang character ni Saima. At of course sa aking pinakamahal na asawa, this is for you bub. I love you so much. To Team Juday, salamat nandiyan pa rin kayo kahit saan tayo mapunta. Maraming maraming salamat. Sa lahat ng kasama sa festival na ito, thank you so much dahil napakaganda ng mga pelikulang naihanay kasama sa amin. It is a privilege na mapabilang sa 45th Metro Manila Film Festival," she shared.
When the film was announced as the overall Best Picture winner, the Mindanao star also shared more thanks to the Muslim community. "Sa mga kapatid naming Muslim na ginabayan kami para magampanan namin ng maayos ang trabaho namin sa pelikulang ito, maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat. Bilang konti lang po ang sinehan namin ay pakidamihan naman po kasi sampu na lang. Merry Christmas po sa inyong lahat and a fab new year," she said.
After winning a similar award at the Cairo International Film Festival earlier this year, Juday couldn't help but admit receiving the award was icing on the cake for her. "This is such a wonderful end to my 2019. It's a beautiful year. To God be the glory," she added.
