"My heart is excited and aflutter for the first time in a long while."
Korean star CL made this statement on Instagram Monday as she talked about beginning another chapter of her singing career following her much publicized departure from her longtime agency, YG Entertainment.
The 28-year-old decided to end her contract after more than a decade of working under YG as once part of the South Korean girl group 2NE1 and now a soloist. In her post, CL looked back on her journey as a performer and said that she has realized and learned a lot of things over the past 13 years.
"I started running even before I learned to walk, so without knowing how to walk or how to rest, I achieved a lot of things, realized a lot of things, and learned a lot of things in the past 13 years. I was happy to be able to live as CL, who could share myself with all of you, and I was also able to heal myself with the love that you all gave me," she said, as translated by Korean entertainment website Soompi.
CL, born Lee Chae-rin, went on to express her excitement about starting afresh, saying, "Like the 13-year-old Chaelin [CL’s given name], just like my grandmother always told me, bravely and confidently. Without waiting for someone else to choose me, I will return to being CL and move forward on my own, one step at a time."
Addressing her fans, she added: "At the thought of being able to share my experiences, memories, and feelings together [with you], my heart is excited and aflutter for the first time in a long while."
Meanwhile, CL will be releasing new music from her latest six-track album, "In The Name of Love", starting Wednesday, December 4. For the official teaser, watch below:
