Regine Velasquez was unable to stop herself from addressing some hardcore fans of her fellow singer and concert collaborator Sarah Geronimo after she was accused of “credit-grabbing”.
On Twitter, the Asia’s Songbird aired her disappointment over the accusations that stemmed from tweets of her sister and acting business manager, Cacai Mitra, about the fast sales of tickets to “Unified”, the first joint concert of the two singers.
“Less than 12 hours and we’re almost sold out except for upperbox and [general admission]! Yehey!” Mitra wrote, tagging the Twitter accounts of Regine and concert producer Viva Live.
With the pop star’s account not being tagged, some hardcore fans took offense from the tweet and accused the Velasquez sisters of "credit-grabbing”, with some even going as far as claiming that it was because of Sarah, not Regine, that the tickets were selling out rapidly.
Responding to the accusations, Regine wrote: “Gusto ko lang sabihin na sa lahat ng concert na gagawin ito lang ang may issue. My sister probably didn’t know Sarah has a Twitter account and you guys are making such a big [deal] about it. Obvious ba na [collaboration] ito? Naka-tag Viva, right?”
“Sa dinami dami kong [collaboration] na ginawa [ko] ngayon lang kami na akusahan na we are taking all the credits… Nakaka-disappoint. I have never experienced this. And I have worked with a lot of artists. Sorry, but you guys are breaking my heart,” she added.
Nevertheless, other fans of Sarah were quick to apologize to Regine, pointing out that the “Tala” hitmaker has long looked up to the veteran singer as her mentor and inspiration since having her showbiz breakthrough in 2003 via “Star for A Night,” which was hosted by the music icon.
