Miss Universe Philippines Gazini Ganados shared with ABS-CBN News right after competing in this year’s Miss Universe pageant that she did her best to win the Miss Universe 2019 title.
Gazini was hoping for a back-to-back win after Catriona Gray was hailed Miss Universe 2018 but South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi was crowned as her successor.
“I was very proud, kasi nakapasok tayo sa top 20. I just did all my best. I couldn’t have had it any other way. I couldn’t do anything anymore because what’s done is done. The only thing to do now is to celebrate. We got into the top 20. That’s a hard thing to do, over 90 gorgeous, unique girls out there,” she said.
Gazini, who wasn’t able to enter this year’s Top 10, broke the country’s nine-year streak of being included in the competition’s Top 10.
“To all the Filipinos out there, maraming, maraming salamat po, and I hope that I made you proud as I did my best in the international arena. It was nerve-wracking but it was fulfilling at the same time,” she said.
Gazini will be spending the holidays and her birthday on the 26th with her relatives in the United States.
