After the announcement of Repertory Philippines production lineup for 2020, Carousel star Nikki Gil said she is more than ready to return to live acting. “I love the stage. I love theater. I knew that I cannot really give it up completely and when the right material came my way and I realized that my baby is big enough and I think that I’ve adjusted to motherhood enough. The timing was just perfect so I said yes to this Repertory production,” she told PUSH.
The singer-actress said taking on the lead role in one of the most well loved musical productions of all time will take a long preparation process. “This is definitely going to be challenging especially because the placement is different. It’s classical singing almost. And so I really have to train for this which I have been doing. I’ve been seeing my voice teacher. It’s been a while since I last sang professionally. My repertoire consists of nursery rhymes so it’s going to take some work but I’m very excited. It’s what I love to do. We have time,” she said.
Although she has no plans to return to showbiz fully, Nikki said she is still open to it. “Of course never say never but for now my plate is full,” she said. Now that her son Finn is turning two, Nikki said she and her husband are open to baby number two after she does Carousel. “I don’t know. We’ll see. Maybe after this (show), maybe after I graduate. We’ll see. But definitely, God willing,” she added.
