At the ABS-CBN Christmas Station ID 2019 shoot, Jane de Leon dished out exciting new details about Darna.
“Siyempre masaya po ako sa tiwalang binigay sa akin ng mga tao. And ngayon siyempre gusto ko ulit magpasaya ng ibang tao, tumulong ayun po,” she said.
According to De Leon, she can already feel the pressure to portray the titular role in the highly-anticipated project. Then again, she’s thankful she is surrounded by people who consistently support her.
“Oo naman po. Nape-pressure po ako. Kahit naman sino’ng nasa posisyon ko ‘yun ‘yung mararamdaman. Pero siyempre, kailangan mo lang tanggapin lahat. And magdasal. Lalo pa’t meron namang mga tao na nandiyan para suportahan ka,” she said.
De Leon, who admitted that she has already seen an interview Sharon Cuneta and Regine Velasquez advising her, said she felt touched over the sweet gesture of the former Darna actresses.
“Actually I saw ‘yung interview nina Ms. Sharon Cuneta and Ms. Regine Velasquez, ‘yung nagbigay sila ng advice sa akin. Nakaka-touch lang. Kasi di ko inexpect coming from them na magbigay sila ng advice sa akin,” she said.
While Jane did not disclose any details about what she and Liza Soberano discussed, she revealed that she already had dinner with the latter.
“Na-meet ko na si Liza. We had dinner already,” she said.
It can be recalled that Liza Soberano, in a YouTube vlog by manager Ogie Diaz, revealed that she asked Jane de Leon to have dinner with her.
Liza Soberano was supposed to play Darna in the new film but backed due to a finger injury.
Meanwhile, Jane is also looking forward to meeting two other actresses who played Darna: Angel Locsin and Marian Rivera.
“Looking forward naman na ma-meet ko si Ate Angel Locsin and Marian Rivera,”
Jane de Leon and Liza Soberano first met each other at the ABS-CBN Ball 2019.
De Leon also gave an update on the progress of the film.
“More on nag-fofocus po kami sa training muna. And inaasikaso po namin location with the production and even the cast din.”
Asked when the cameras will start rolling for the highly-anticipated film, she said: “Next year.”
Darna is set to be directed by Jerrold Tarog, the filmmaker behind Heneral Luna and Goyo.
