Rita Avila took to social media to remember her late son, Ellia Jesu, on what would have been his 13th birthday on Sunday, November 10.
On Instagram on Saturday, the seasoned actress posted a photo of a big moth side by side with an old picture of her "angel son" with TV director Erick Reyes.
"November 10, 2019 - 13th birthday of our angel son, Jesu. ['Di] na daw [siya] little butterfly or langaw. Big boy na [siya]. Big moth on the set. Been there for hours while Kate and I were dancing like crazy during a long break. It flew in circles on top of us then stayed there as if watching us," she wrote.
In Filipino culture, one of the most popular superstitious beliefs or " pamahiin" is the belief that a butterfly or a moth is a sign of a dead relative making their presence felt.
Ellia Jesu, the only child of Rita and Erick, died less than a month after being born due to complications of a heart surgery in December 2006.
In a previous interview with ABS-CBN News, Rita said that she was able to cope from the death of their child by keeping her faith in God.
"May sariling time ng paghilom ng sugat 'yung namatayan, kaya mahirap mong sabihan 'yung taong namatayan na move on kaagad. Para sa akin po, ang the best talaga na pwedeng gawin to be able to 'move on' is to hold on to one’s faith in God, 'yung alam mo po na may magandang plano ang Diyos para sa iyo. Kailangang tanggapin mo kung ano 'yung binigay niya, kasi Siya ang nakakaalam nung bigger picture eh," she said.
