Broadway star Lea Salonga urged parents to research before actually watching the musical.
Whenever Lea Salonga headlines a musical show, people immediately assume that it’s ‘wholesome’ just like her Disney princess image since she was the singing voice to Mulan and Princess Jasmine. However, the Broadway star reminded parents to do more research before purchasing tickets for her latest musical Sweeney Todd since it’s too far from her usual wholesome image.
Lea has posted a reminded over the weekend saying “Don’t assume that just because my name is attached that it’s going to be a family-friendly afternoon/evening.”
“Although the minimum age is 12, that would depend on the maturity level of your child. My 13-year-old flat out refuses to watch this as she has a hyper-vivid imagination. Please, please, please, I implore you to do your research,” she wrote on Instagram.
Lea will portray role of Mrs. Lovett in Atlantis Theatrical’s Sweeney Todd, which also stars Jett Pangan and Nyoy Volante.
Sweeney Todd the musical will be staged in Manila and Singapore. The Manila leg will run from October 11 to 27 at The Theatre at Solaire in Parañaque City.
