A pillar of Philippine theater whose career spanned 70 years, Tony passed away on Friday night in the presence of his family and friends, as confirmed by Dulaang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas and playwright Floy Quintos.

The "lion of the theater" and founding artistic director of Dulaang UP was last seen in the MMFF 2018 entry "Rainbow's Sunset" together with late actor Eddie Garcia. He would later win the Best Supporting Award for his oustanding performance as Fredo.

Local stars such as Lea Salonga and Bela Padilla honored Tony as they posted their messages for the late actor on their respective social media accounts.

Amalia, on the other hand, died on Saturday midnight due to multiple organ failure.

She was 79.

"Cardiac arrest po. Dinala siya sa St. Lukes three days ago tapos
nagkakaroon ng multiple organ failure and seizure. Sampung beses ko siya nakita huminga then wala na,"
confirmed Amalia's nephew, Niño Muhlach, in an interview with DZMM.

It was in 1956 when Amalia made her foray in showbiz as star of the film 'Movie Fan' opposite her on-screen partner, Juancho Gutierrez.

She was awarded twice by FAMAS for her outstanding performances in 'Ibulong Mo Sa Hangin (1966) and 'Pag-ibig Mo Buhay Ko' (1973).

Last 2015, Amalia courted headlines after suffering from a stroke while vacationing in South Korea.
