US based Pinay singer Sheryn Regis is back to do some shows in Manila. The popular Star in A Million finalist says she is very happy to be back and is excited to see her family and friends in and out of showbiz.
During her press conference last October 5, Sheryn revealed why it took her a longtime to make it back into the music scene after migrating to Houston, Texas in 2010 with her family.
"Babalik sana ako ng 2016 for projects, and then I found out that I had cancer. That's why. Di muna ako nagpapakita," she revealed.
Sheryn recounted how scared she was to lose her voice after her surgery.
"I had to undergo surgery. It was crucial for me kasi pag tinanggal, it was a thyroid cancer, 'pag tinanggal, alam mo ba maaring (taamaan) yun nerves. Pwede ako mawalan ng boses, sobrang it was really bad. The last time I sang, it was with Jonalyn, it was in 2016, hirap na hirap ako, 'di ko lang sinabi talaga na kaka-surgery ko lang noon. I had to sing," she said.
Sheryn was emotional as she remembered the struggles she went through during that time.
"Actually after the surgery hindi ako pwede kumanta for 6 months. My faith really helped me a lot.
The singer, known for belting out tunes, admitted however that her voice range has actually changed.
I'm so thankful to God and sa support ng family and friends na kundi dahil sa kanila, di ko kaya."

She also said she is currently cancer free but is taking some medication for life.
"I hope so. I think I am cancer-free. Siyempre I always have routine check-ups, I underwent radiation therapy."
Sheryn is set to do her major concert next year and promises her fans that she will also be coming out with a new song by January.
