Vicky Belo admitted that she was bullied when she was a kid so she decided to get into the beauty business.
In the Saturday episode of It's Showtime, Vicky turned emotional when she shared her journey to becoming a dermatologist.
“My business is beauty pero hindi niyo alam kaya ako pumasok sa beauty business dahil I am also a victim of bullying,” she said while commenting on the “Magpasikat” performance of Vice Ganda’s group, which tackles the subject of self-love.
Vicky recounted, “When I was a child I was very fat. I was five years old and I weighed a hundred pounds and I was adopted, so ampon po ako ng mga Belo. At 'yung mga tao, 'yung mga kids tinutukso ako na bakit ka pinamigay? Dahil pangit ka? Or dahil ang taba mo? So I think people don't understand that the reason why I went to beauty is because I want to make everyone more beautiful. Because when their beautiful they are more love, accepted, di ba?”
The dermatologist applauded Vice’s performance because it showcased embracing one true self and loving one’s physical attributes. “You show everyone that you are beautiful all the time. There's no ugly person in this world whether there is no hair. You accept them and you love them,” Vicky remarked.
The dermatologist added, “You’re an inspiration to a lot of people that kayang-kaya for them to be themselves and magsa-succeed sila.”
