“Cebuana” singer Karencitta recently trended after voicing out her personal opinion about Original Pinoy Music (OPM).

In a clip that’s circulating online, she said, “How are we going to bring OPM onto the international scale if our own country is not playing their own music when we're idolizing other people's music?

“I think we should play more OPM music on radio. Monday to Sunday…24 hours on the clock,” she added.

She then urged and challenged local radio stations to play OPM songs round the clock or else her latest single “IDK” will be her last single and would quit the music industry.

“I swear, if radio stations don’t do this by tomorrow, IDK’s gonna be my last single, I quit music,” she said.

Karencitta gained more publicity when her song “Cebuna” went viral and even topped in Spotify Philippines’ viral hits chart in January 2018. She soon signed a record deal with Viva Artists Agency and Hollywood-based label Capitol Records.

Her music video for “IDK” was filmed in her hometown Lorega, Cebu City and “all the budget for this music video was given back to Karencitta’s hometown, Lorega. She hosted a feeding event on her birthday.”
