Jose Manalo, who snagged his first leading role in the comedy film ‘Boy Tokwa’, says he wants to work with John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo in the future.
Jose Manalo, who got his first leading role in the Tony Reyes-directed comedy-drama film which recounts the life of the late Olangapo-based con artist Rodrigo Morelos, shared what he felt while doing some of the scenes—especially those that required heavy emotions from him.
"Nung nandun na kami sa part na 'yun—'yung ginagawa na namin 'yun—naramdaman ko na si Boy Tokwa, kung gaano kasakit 'yung pagkawala ng nanay niya," he said.
Asked what took him so long to take on a role with heavy dramatic scenes, he answered: "Hangga't hindi ko nararamdaman na masakit, hindi ako papayag."
Having worked with Kapamilya actors such as Coco Martin and Arjo Atayde in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2018 entry Jack Em Popoy: The Puliscredibles, Jose Manalo revealed who else among today's prime Kapamilya stars he wants to work with on a movie given a chance.
"Marami naman kasi. Like sina John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo. Kasi mga movies nila 'pag napapanuod ko natutuwa ako. Sa tingin ko mga komedyante rin sila kasi gusto ko naman maka-try 'yung seryosong mukha pero komedyante. Mukhang masarap katrabaho. Mukhang masarap kabatuhan sa mga eksena," he told PUSH.
Boy Tokwa, a film under Vicente "Tito" Sotto's company VST Productions, opens in cinemas on January 8.
