Catriona Gray: 'I've packed up my home in Manila and now I'm ready to move to my new home in New York City.'
After spending quality time with her family in the Philippines on Christmas and New Year's Day, Catriona Gray is finally off to New York City, her official residence as part of being Miss Universe. The beauty queen posted an update on her Instagram on Wednesday, January 2, announcing her departure from the Philippines.
She posted, "Refreshed from a quiet holiday season with my loved ones, I've packed up my home in Manila and now I'm ready to move to my new home in New York City!! I still can't believe it! I have to say I'm most nervous about experiencing the chill of NYC in winter but would love to know, what are your recommendations to see, do and eat?!"
In a recent interview after she was crowned as Miss Universe, Catriona shared that her wish was to spend Christmas with her family in the Philippines. Meanwhile, she posted a heartwarming message for the Filipinos on Christmas Eve, expressing her gratitude to be able to bring joy to the Filipinos through winning the crown. "I am grateful for so, so much. This year all my prayers were answered. More so, I am so thankful I get to be with my loving parents and through Ms Universe, be able to bring joy to 104 million Filipinos this Christmas. Maligayang Pasko Philippines! Mahal ko kayo," she wrote on December 24.
Catriona succeeded Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa as Miss Universe and she will be present at various charitable events around the world as part of her role. She is also expected to appear in television shows during her reign. Catriona will also have the opportunity to walk various fashion shows just like her predecessors. Recently, Catriona was featured on Vogue, highlighting her potential to also make it big in the fashion world because of her much talked about "Lava Walk."
It was reported that her grand homecoming parade in the Philippines is already being ironed out and will be held in the first quarter of 2019.
