Filipino-German model and Catriona Gray’s beau Clint Bondad defends himself: “On my page I am not trying to pretend to be perfect. In fact, I am trying to show the exact opposite.”
Model Clint Bondad on Tuesday penned a lengthy retort to a netizen who criticized him for being a “bad example” to his young followers for trying out vape.
“Don’t be a bad example for the youth followers. Vaping isn’t a good example especially from celebrities/public personalities like that girl next to you!,” the said netizen wrote, referring to a post of Clint that he has since deleted due to “a small legal reason”.
In his response, Clint – who, apart from being a model and host, is best known as the loving beau of Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray – clarified that he’s not trying to be perfect on social media whatsoever.
“In fact I am trying to show exactly the opposite. To show that you can work hard, be disciplined, have big goals AND have fun at the same time too! Life shouldn't be boring. I advocate being yourself and being happy above all. Being healthy is a tool to get there, something someone should enjoy,” he said.
Though he has his fair share of unhealthy habits, too, Clint said that he doesn’t let them hinder him from achieving his life goals in any way.
“I drink maybe 1-2 times a year and sometimes just a little sip on New Year's, took maybe two dozen or so cigarette puffs in my whole life but I avoid those things not because they are necessarily ‘bad’ but because they hinder me from my goals,” he said.
On the subject of vape, Clint assured that it was only a one-time-thing as “smoking, I think, is one of the dumbest things one can do.”
“That's my official stance on it but we all at least tried it. If someone wants to smoke that's their thing. No problem with them personally,” he said.
“You have to understand that a single post can't define the overall message of a persona, it’s impossible. People are smart enough to figure it out most of the time but I am not responsible for their life and their decisions, I leave that to their parents,” he added.
In the end, Clint said that he completely respects his critic’s opinion and even wished him well.
“I prefer a world with freedom and diversity over one where I feel like a bee in a beehive. I am messaging you not to actively change your mind but because I believe in transparency 🤗 wish you super well and hope you are doing better than ever,” he said.
