Inigo Pascual's closest friends in the industry performed at a concert for free for the benefit of a leukemia patient.
Over 200 fans showed up at Historia Boutique Bar and Restaurant where Inigo Pascual mounted a star-studded benefit concert for a leukemia patient named Arnie Espina.
The young Kapamilya artist, who met Arnie last year, shared what motivated him to put up the gig despite his busy schedule.
"Sobrang na-move niya ako. I did not know that a simple song could have a different meaning to someone. Nung na-meet ko siya, I did not know what to expect. I didn't know how to talk to her. Ano ba 'yung tamang sasabihin sa batang may condition na 'di natin alam na nangyayari. We live our lives, we do the things that we want pero 'di natin narerealize na madaming bata na hindi nila nagagawa 'yun because of their condition, because of the sickness that they have. So ako parang part ng pagiging grateful ko sa buhay I wanted to really take the time and use it to help them or in a way make them feel na maraming nagmamahal sa kanila," he explained.
Inigo Pascual, who openly shared why Arnie is unlike any other person he has helped before, admitted that he has a deeper, more personal reason for extending his help in the treatment of the latter's acute myeloid leukemia.
"Arnie has a very special place in my heart because my lola had the same leukemia as her. So nung nalaman ko 'yun parang I felt more connected to her. Mas personal. Even my mom, my dad has been very, very supportive of us," he said.
Artists such as John Roa, Dane Hipolito, Ryle Santiago, Volts Vallejo, Michan were among those who chose to offer their time to make the night of non-stop music possible without asking anything from him in return. To them, Inigo Pascual could only utter words of endless gratitude.
"They just really gave their time to just be here and do it for Arnie. And 'di ko alam na puwede palang gawin. I guess we just really had to put up lahat ng tao and make it happen. I'm just really happy. I did not expect it to be this packed tonight," Inigo said.
"'Yung mga artists tinanong namin sila if they're willing to perform. And a lot of them open-heartedly said yes. And nakakatuwa kasi I did not expect kasi natakot ako who can we invite, who can we ask to perform tonight. Siyempre may sari-sarili din silang mga trabaho and to really give their time and talent, sobrang nakakatuwa," he added.
Piolo Pascual also made a surprise appearance at the benefit show, singing three songs including a solo performance of Eraserheads' "With A Smile" and a duet of the OPM classic "Hanggang" and "Dahil Sa'Yo" with his son Inigo.
Meanwhile, Arnie Espina who was all smiles during the entire show, still couldn't believe that all of it just happened.
Asked what she felt about the effort that Inigo exerted to raise funds for her treatment, Arnie answered: "Sobrang saya po ng puso ko. Thank you so much."
All proceeds of the benefit show will go directly to Arnie Espina and will be used for her chemotherapy.
