Fresh from the success of Fantastica, onscreen pair Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber are off to another venture together – music.

The two, who rose to fame as MayWard, sent fans abuzz after having confirmed that they’re currently working on new individual albums. The release is expected later in the year under Star Music Philippines’ record label StarPop.

In a series of Instagram Stories last Wednesday, Maymay extended her gratitude towards ABS-CBN Music head Roxy Liquigan and Star Music producer-songwriter Rox Santos for guiding them through.

“Maraming salamat po, Sir Roxy Liquigan and Sir Rox Santos sa panibagong album na aabangan po namin ngayong taon. Siyempre, ‘di rin papahuli si Dodong dahil may upcoming album din siya ngayong taon!,” wrote Maymay.

The project marks Maymay’s second since the release of her nine-tracked self-titled album in June 2017 under the same record label. This included four songs featuring Edward, including ‘Mahal Kita Kasi’, ‘Titig ng Pag-ibig’, and two versions of ‘Baliw’.

Being two of the most sought-after stars of today, it’s amazing to think how Maymay and Edward have grown from the impressionable teenagers we all witnessed on the reality competition Pinoy Big Brother almost two years ago. Of their unexpected rise to fame – films, television series, concerts, and even an international modeling stint that Maymay could only ever dream of – the young actor said that it’s with their authenticity that fans are naturally drawn to them.

“We’re perfectly aware that some people find us somewhat weird and it’s just okay because that’s what we really are in reality. We’re comfortable being such. I feel like many people these days, particularly the millennials can relate to our weirdness considering that they’re more or less our age,” said Edward in an interview with Manila Standard.
