The joint effort from Star Cinema and streaming service iWant has paved way for the success of yet another Filipino film in the international scene
It was an easy win for Filipino film Quezon’s Game after taking home a record of 12 awards at the 2018 Cinema World Fest (Autumn Selection) in Canada.
Centering around President Manuel L. Quezon’s role in the survival of the Jewish people during the Nazi regime, the movie was given the recognitions for Excellence Acting, Original Score, Produced Screenplay, and Merit Drama Feature, among others.
A joint effort from Star Cinema and streaming service iWant, the Matthew Rosen-directed Quezon’s Game is topbilled by season actors Raymund Bagatsing as Quezon, and Rachel Alejandro as his wife, Aurora. Billy Gallion, the American actor who played businessman Alex Frieder in the film, was also instrumental in their success after winning the Award of Excellence Supporting Actor.
With this, Quezon’s Game is set to compete with the fellow winners of the Winter, Spring, and Summer selections at a gala event that will be held in Ottawa later in the year, simultaneous with its much-awaited premiere in the Philippines.
