Dingdong Dantes reveals how he practices with daughter Zia.
As the newest local celebrity ambassador of Dunkin Donuts, Dingdong Dantes said he was happy to work with Derek Ramsay and Piolo Pascual on their latest commercial. “It is such an honor to join these two fine young gentlemen and matagal ko nang iniisip kung kailan ko kaya sila makakatrabaho and I’m just so grateful na nagawa ng Dunkin Donuts yun. So now that I’m here, thank you for welcoming me, ang inyong bunso (laughs). They both really welcomed me. Very, very warm ang pagtanggap especially sa set. Kasi it’s like they’re home already and that is exactly what they made me feel on set. So parang naglalaro lang kami, exactly how the ad is. Parang pupunta lang ng gimmick, we were just ourselves, enjoying the moment,” he said during the Dunkin Donuts DD Bars press launch held last January 10 in Makati City.
Dingdong said that more than just doing commercials, he would definitely be open to doing a movie with the two actors even if it means having to keep as fit as them as well. “Nung nalaman ko na makakasama ko sila months ago nag-diet na ako eh (laughs). Seriously, only because I knew I would be consuming all these delicious donuts on set which we did. So at the end of the day it’s really all about balance. So kung gaano karami ang ibibigay mo dito sa pagkain, you also have to balance it out with the proper and right exercise. Iba iba naman yung mga exercise para sa mga tao. There is always that something that will fit you,” he explained.
Dingdong said he has no problem keeping fit nowadays because of his daughter Zia. “Yung tini-training ko ngayon 100-meter dash kasi mabilis na tumakbo si Zia. Sprint yun eh (laughs). But seriously, I would want to do a marathon this year. Siguro some time in September. Matagal ko na siyang gusto kaya I am inspired by so many friends who are running like sina Kuya Kim (Atienza), si Piolo (Pascual), marami pang iba. So sana sa taong ito magawa ko yun. I just always adapt with the times and what’s needed. Kasi I’m not really the type who plans ahead like two or three years. Kung ano yung sa tingin kong need for the season, for the moment, and then I adapt,” he explained.
After shooting his commercial, Dingdong shared how his daughter also became a fan of the product he is now endorsing. “Nung nag-shoot kami nag-uwi ako ng mga props eh (laughs). Yung isa yung ginamit namin na bagong produkto na i-introduce natin, yung five DD Bars. Pero siyempre meron pa rin siyang favorites na maliliit, yung munchkins. Bago ako umalis ng bahay, yan ang bilin sa akin ng anak ko, na uwian ko daw siya ng donut,” he said.
