Myrtle Sarrosa admits she waited six long years for her big screen break.
As her new film Wander Bra opens in theaters nationwide this week, Myrtle Sarrosa said she is grateful to finally get a big break in her career. “Sobrang grateful ko. This will be my first lead role na starring film so I’m grateful na finally after six years dumating na rin sa akin ito. I thought it was too good to be true (laughs). Eh kasi before ang dami na ring times na parang I was supposed to star in something tapos hindi natutuloy. So sabi ko, ‘Pag hindi pa nag-sa-start yung shooting at hindi pa pinapalabas yung film ayoko ko muna mag-expect.’ So ngayon nag-si-sink in na siya sa akin na ipapalabas na siya so kinakabahan ako. I’m excited and a little bit nervous but all good,” she shared during the Wander Bra premiere night held last September 11.
The 23-year-old actress said she waited six years for this kind of opportunity. “Yung passion ko for what I do, for acting most especially kasi through the years alam ko when I started I needed so much improvement so ang daming learnings and workshops na pinagdaanan ko. And minsan there’s a time na parang na iisipin mo dadating pa kaya yun or panghihinaan ka ng loob but it’s all in God’s plan,” explained.
The Wander Bra star also shared that at one point while waiting she did consider quitting showbiz. “Meron. Pero parang mas nauunahan pa rin siya ng passion mo to do this. Kasi nag-e-enjoy naman ako when I go to shootings, when I go to tapings, when I go to events. I love what I do,” she said.
Playing a superhero is nothing new to Myrtle since she has always been into cosplaying even before joining showbiz. “Sobra. Kasi everyone knows that I started with cosplay. Up until now nag-ko-cosplay pa rin ako so dream ko talaga i-bring to life yung mga comic book characters, mga superheroes. So dream come true na yung pinaka-una kong film isang superhero film. Nung time na ginawa yung film payat na kasi ako so not much adjustments kasi after the Ginebra San Miguel na calendar yun. So parang maging mas easier na siya,” she said.
When it comes to her personal life, Myrtle said she is happily seeing someone outside of showbiz. “I’m good. I’m dating someone but I don’t want to jinx anything,” she added.
