Apart from sharing a similarity when it comes to their full lips, Anne Curtis said she never imagined she would also be compared to Hollywood star Angelina Jolie because of her latest role in the Erik Matti film Buy Bust. In the movie, Anne plays the role of a gutsy drug enforcement officer which is not unlike the tough girl role Angelina plays in her action films like Tomb Raider, Wanted, and Salt. “It’s truly flattering hearing this mula sa mga nakatrabaho ko sa Buy Bust. Nakita naman nila yung effort, yung oras. Sila naman yung mga ka-eksena ko dito so it’s very flattering,” she said
After undergoing rigorous training for the film, Anne said she was relieved that director Matti was happy with the outcome of the project. “Actually sobrang hirap talaga. Two years ito ginawa eh, two years akong tumatakbo eh so I would have to say Buy Bust by far. I think yung pinakamahirap for me was juggling the time. Minsan isang eksena sa isang gabi ang nagagawa namin. Madugo talaga mag-action. First time ko mag-action at na-discover ko, if you want it to be a superb action film, bibigyan mo ng oras. Hindi puwede yung ‘Okay na yan!’” she explained.
The Buy Bust actress said she learned a lot during filming and also that she was glad to able to star in a different kind of genre. “I think it’s awesome kasi finally bibigyan kami ng pagkakataon to have more female leads in action films so walang ganun. I think it’s great. Dapat more pa nga eh. Siyempre we had to be aware (of the current situation). Lalo na may PDEA kami on set na nag-ga-guide sa amin, tinuturuan kami ng tamang linguahe nila. So aware ako kasi kinukuwento nila sa akin. Kasi minsan hindi sila dadating, tapos dadating sila next shooting tapos malalaman ko what they had to do everyday, what the officers have to go through. So magiging aware ka talaga sa mga nangyayari. And you become more sensitive to what’s happening around you,” she said.
When asked if Buy Bust was a sort of social commentary aimed towards today’s handling of the drug war by the government, Anne clarified that the movie came first before the national issue. “No, kasi this movie came about even before the drug war happened so wala siyang ganun,” she added.
