After starting out in showbiz as one of the discoveries in the now defunct Wazzup Wazzup’s Tadjock Search more than a decade ago, Dianne Medina said she has always had a love for hosting. “Ever since kasi gusto ko na talaga mag-host. I also tried auditioning before for DZMM kaya lang nung nakuha ako sa Star Magic, mas na-push ako for teleseryes at that time way, way, way back (laughs),” she shared during the Asia’s Lashes contract-signing event held last July 28 in Ortigas.
As an AB Communications graduate, the Asia’s Lashes celebrity ambassador said she is happy with her current job reporting for the government. “Matanda na ako. So after nun parang nakita ko rin sa showbiz very cutthroat competition so nag-try ako sa People’s Television Network and Radio Television Malacanang. So luckily I got in tapos dun na nag-start,” said Dianne.
After covering three State of the Nation addresses under the current administration, Dianne said she has become a more serious reporter. “Sa Wazzup Wazzup kasi very light lang din talaga. Here it’s government-related topics. I did the SONA coverage for Radio Television Malancang wherein we tackled a lot of issues like Bangsamoro, TRAIN law, lahat ng issues ng government ngayon, lahat ng projects and programs nila. Pero bago ako linagay sa studio as an anchor, sinabak muna ako sa labas. Sa segment ko I featured the services of the different government agencies. Kumbaga linalapit natin sa tao yung mga serbisyo na maari nilang makuha at mga programa at proyekto ng iba’t ibang ahensya ng pamahalaan para mas maintindihan na nila,” she shared.
When she started working at Malacanang, Dianne said she had a period of adjustment. “Nanibago kasi employee ka talaga dun as compared to artista in terms of everything. When I say everything I mean pay, benefits, as in lahat. Totally different environment. Kasi pag artista ka usually script babasahin mo and ready na lahat. Dito it’s a different world. Talagang mag-aaral ka,” she explained.
After seven years in her current job, Dianne said she has no regrets and enjoys a different kind of fulfillment in front of the camera. “Happy naman, ang dami ko ding natututunan. I get to interview people from different walks of life, mga politicians din. Sobrang nag-e-enjoy ako kasi nakakatuwa, ang daming magagandang projects and programs na kailangan lang maintindihan ng tao para hindi sila ma-nega sa government natin,” she added.
