Less than a year after signing with Universal Records, Julie Anne San Jose has finally released her seven-track album Breakthrough.
Having worked with her home network's label in the past, Julie Anne, or Japs as she is often referred to by her friends in showbiz, couldn't be more grateful to Universal Records for allowing her to express herself feel freely as an artist through her music.
"Lahat naman ng mga albums na ni-release ko before, happy naman ako about it. But you know, I just feel like I'm growing up also and I need… I want to do new stuff that I can offer to like other people and my fans," she stated.
One of the artists whom she specifically wants to collaborate with on a track is "Nadarang" hitmaker and young rapper Shanti Dope.
"I want to work with Shanti [Dope]. We met one-time sa isang event and Universal Records also put as together and then I saw him. And then I said, ‘I'm such a fan’ and we had a picture together. It was really nice meeting him. Sobrang down-to-earth niya. Sobrang talented niya. Ang real kasi niya," she said.
Now more than ever, the barriers between networks are slowly disappearing—especially when it comes to music and film. As for Julie Anne, she is not closing her doors to working with artists from the other side of the fence.
"Of course. I'd love to. I mean open naman ako sa collaborations so like I'm open to work with anyone naman. I don't have any problem with it naman," she said. "Mas gusto kong mas marami akong makatrabaho especially when it comes to music," she added.
Both signed under Universal Records, Julie Anne San Jose revealed she also hopes to do a collab with Kapamilya teen heartthrob Donny Pangilinan.
"Well, I haven't really met him, but he seems really nice. May mga friends din ako na friend siya so I hope to meet him someday and I hope to work with him also,” she stated.
