Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo admit to being in a more than five year relationship

During The Hows of Us Media Day last August 22, the movie's lead stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo were put in the hot seat when they were asked how long they have officially been in a relationship. For years the popular loveteam has dodged questions regarding their official status but Daniel finally confirmed it during the event, "Basta more than five years na," he shared. Kathniel has been working together in showbiz since 2011 in the teen oriented show Growing Up. Kathryn and Daniel also revealed that there were times in the past when they were tempted to split up. “May confrontation scenes kami. Oo naman. May nangyari talaga. Kasi sa isa namang relationship hindi yan smooth parati 'di ba? Merong talagang mga taon or mga panahon na (ganun). Pero how did we save it? Kasi gusto namin and for me choice niyo yun parati dalawa kung itutuloy pa ba or ilalaban pa ba or ganyan. Yun yung pinili namin and I think I made the right choice,” Kathryn shared. The Hows of Us actress said she has already learned a lot from her first boyfriend. “For me naman kasi sa isang relationship, kahit gaano natin kagusto siya maging perfect hindi siya mangyayari. Basta ang importante dito yung may natutunan ka, sabay kayo mag-go-grow, and move on. And yun yung pinili namin,” she added. For DJ, keeping his relationship strong involves a lot of reflection. “Lagi naman siyang desisyon di ba? Maraming beses na, Tingnan mo kung gusto mo pa ba? Or kaya mo pa ba ‘to?’ Hindi naman ako love guru or something pero personal eh,” he remarked. The 23-year-old actor said the reason why his relationship has lasted this long is because they always choose to be with each other in the end. “Ako, lagi akong bumabalik. Bakit nga ba? Sa simula nung lahat ng ito, bakit ko nga ba minahal itong taong ito? Malamang nag-aaway kayo ngayon pero siyempre kailangan mo tingnan yung mas malalim na ano sa problema na ito. Kasi maaaring nagkakaproblema lang tayo ngayon pero saan ba tayo nanggaling? At nasan na ba tayo ngayon? So laging ganun lang,” he explained. The Kapamilya actor even admitted that some of the confrontation scenes in the movie may look very realistic because of it hits close to home for both him and Kath. “Oo, yung mga dramatic na klase ng eksena. Nanggaling yung mga yun (scenes from Hows of Us) sa ibang eksena sa buhay namin ni Kathryn.
