Coco entertained questions from the media at the recent launch of his second commercial for Sarsaya Oyster Sauce held at Las Casas Fiipinas de Acuzar restaurant in Quezon City.

Kung ako naging ulam? Siyempre adobo. Para habang tumatagal, sumasarap,” replied Coco Martin, with a hearty laugh.

Pushed further, Coco compared his Ang Probinsiyano leading lady, Yassi Pressman, to his other favorite food. “Si Yassi? Siguro beef steak. Isa sa masasarap kainin.” Julia Montes, another longtime partner, is the classic karekare. “Basta kare-kare, masarap.”

Aside from his favorite ulam, Coco also revealed his love for street food.

In fact, despite his busy schedule, Coco still tries to make time to grab a bite at a local paresan.

In his commercials, Coco is seen sharing the kitchen with a grandmother. This scenario holds true in real life, because Coco actually developed his love for cooking from his own grandmother. Coco really feels at home among the pots and pans in the kitchen. He liked it so much that he went on to take a degree in HRM.

“Actually, marunong talaga akong magluto kasi noong bata ako, ako talaga ‘yung assistant ng lola ko everytime na nagluluto siya,” the Ang Probinsyano star said. “‘Yung favorite kong lutuin, kare-kare.”

Until now, his grandmother still makes the effort to cook for him.

One of Coco’s dreams is to put up a small karinderya for his grandmother. Tipid!”
