Pia Wurtzbach also shares her thoughts on transgender beauty pageant hopefuls.
After starring opposite Gerald Anderson earlier this year in her first Star Cinema starrer My Perfect You, Pia Wurtzbach said she is excited about her upcoming ABS-CBN projects which will be unveiled later this year. During her launch as one of the new celebrity ambassadors for Ultherapy and Merz Philippines #BeYOUtifulStory held last July 11 in Taguig, Pia also weighed in on Angela Ponce who made history by being the first transgender to win Miss Universe Spain last month. “I always knew that transgender are allowed to join Miss Universe and win Miss Universe. So they’re welcome to join,” she told PUSH.
The 28-year-old beauty queen also said she admires how resilient and strong transgender contestants are. “We also have to remember that that’s a lifelong process for you to become a transgender and for you to identify as a woman. Hindi naman yan like one day she just decided na, ‘You know what today I’m going to be a woman. I want to be a Miss Universe.’ It’s not like that. For all we know, baka sa pagkabata pa lang niya,” she shared.
As for the chances of Catriona Gray in the next Miss Universe pageant, Pia said she has full confidence in the reigning Binibining Pilipinas Universe winner. “I think we have a very good chance at Miss Universe with her. She’s a very well-rounded person, sobrang ganda, matangkad, proud to be Filipino. I mean what more could you ask for?” she said.
