Respeto star Abra showed up in character at the New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF) last Saturday.
Abra who starred in the 2017 drama film Respeto, performed the original song Tirador at the New York Asian Film Festival. NYAFF’s official Facebook page live streamed the performance.
In the video, movie director Treb Monteras also shared how he and the team came up with creating the film. He said, “The dream was just to make a film on the rising Pinoy hip-hop culture, but when we elected a new president in 2016, it became more than that."
Respeto, who won the Best Film at The EDDYs 2018, is an official entry to this year’s NYAFF and will be competing with other films from Japan, Malaysia, China, Hongkong, and South Korea. The film fest, organized by the Film Society of Lincoln Center and Subway Cinema, will run from June 29 to July 15, 2018.
Aside from Respeto, Erik Matti’s Buy Bust and Mikhail Red’s Neomanila were some of the Filipino films that made it to the said film festival.
