Paolo Paraiso denies Kontradiksiyon is a pro-Duterte film

As part of the upcoming Bell Films’ relaunch film Kontradiksiyon, Paolo Paraiso revealed he enjoys portraying a villain on screen.

“Actually ako yung villain dito. The past two years puro action yung ginagawa kong pelikula kaya natuwa ako dito sa role ko nung in-offer ito sa akin, nung nakita ko na psychopathic villian tinanggap ko agad kasi challenge siya eh. Never ko siya nagawa before. Every time na may ginagawa akong villain na role parang umaangat yung intensity,” he shared.

The model-turned-actor said he will be playing the antagonist to lead actors Jake Cuenca and Kris Bernal in the film.

With the movie’s central theme on the local drug war plaguing the country, many netizens can’t help but speculate if the film is a pro administration project.

“Well not necessarily. Actually isa sa mga unang tanong ko yan eh. Sabi ko, ‘Is this a pro-Duterte film?’ But sabi nila hindi. We’re talking about the issue and not the presidency. In my opinion, when you make a film there’s a message to it and there’s an issue at hand and then we address the issue. Wala naman kaming sinasabing pro-drug war kami or anti-drug war. Basta pinapakita namin kung ano yung storya around that issue,” he said.

Being apolitical when it comes to his views, Paolo admitted he just wants to be part of a good quality project.

“Kasi nung binasa ko yung script bale wala sa akin kung if it’s pro-yellow, pro-Duterte or whatever you call it sa political scene because it’s happening. You look around and it’s happening. Whichever camp you come from, if you spin it this way yellow ka, if you spin it that way for Duterte ka. For me it’s a movie, when I read it, it tackles the issue and I love character. Yun ang number one,” he stated.
