Dimples Romana shares how having two kids has changed her as a person.
After recently celebrating her 15th wedding anniversary with her husband Boyet Ahmee, Dimples Romana said she could not have asked for a happier life than with her family which includes her children Callie and Alonzo. The 33-year-old mom said she would be fulfilled if she can make them feel truly loved. “Siguro gusto ko marinig sa mga anak ko na I did okay as a mom. Gusto ko lang na kahit hindi ko sila laging kasama, naramdaman nila yung pagmamahal ko sa kanila. Maaaring hindi nila naiisip yun or hindi yun yung uri ng pagmamahal na gusto nila makuha sa akin pero in the future I want them to be able to tell me, ‘You know mommy you did okay. You made us feel loved.’ Yun lang naman,” she shared.
Having two kids that are a decade apart is a constant challenge that Dimples has no regrets about. “Actually you have to adapt to the kids. Because as you know there’s no manual for motherhood. With Callie until now she’s very quiet. She’s 14 years old and she’s so creative. But I feel challenged everyday na Callie has to not be bored. Kasi it’s so easy for kids to be bored now. And pinapanuod ko siya. Kaya pala siya quiet kasi she thinks a lot. She’s a reader and she bakes and she decorates things. Yun ang tinap ko. Sa i-Shine ang natutunan ko you have to nurture the gift of your children. With Alonzo naman, he’s such a people pleaser. Alonzo says hello to everybody and he talks to everybody. In the restaurant I don’t want to sit up by the door kasi he greets everyone. That’s okay with me kaya lang na-di-disrupt yung dinner. Lagi talaga siyang nagpapa-cute sa lahat,” she explained.
The Bagani actress also shared why she regularly shares updates on her kids on social media. “Before I used to have inhibitions of sharing the videos of Alonzo for security purposes. But I realized pag nababasa ko yung mga comments ng mga tao and it makes them feel happy seeing it. Joy should be shared di ba? So shini-share ko yun every now and then para naman makapag-spread siya ng happiness,” she added.
Off camera, Dimples said that people don’t know how much she enjoys inspiring other people especially moms like her. “Maybe they’d be surprised at how much work I put into trying to be a good mom. Alam mo natutunaw nga ang puso ko pag nagbabasa ko sa Instagram and they say, ‘You’re my inspiration,’ mga ganyan kasi hindi nakikita yung sarili kong ganun eh. So through their words of encouragement I feel inspired even more. I listen to other moms. I like talking to moms. I like talking to older moms, younger moms. I want to know what they’re going through para just in case lang I get tidbits of what to do with my children and more awareness talaga gives you a different perspective in a way that you actually gain more respect for how moms are on a daily basis. Kasi minsan pag hindi ka aware kung gaano kahirap maging ina, ang daling mag-judge eh. Moms in general give you a feeling that they don’t need anything in general but in truth they really do,” she explained.
