Celebrities share their biggest life lessons from their dads

Wil Dasovich

“My dad always just told me to never quit and keep on going in anything your doing. One thing that I guess makes me remember and really had an impact on my life is back in the States I ran a house cleaning business and I was just a young entrepreneur in college trying to make something for myself and I was really struggling in the beginning because starting a business is really hard and takes a lot of work. I remember I was really going to quit and he just sat me down and gave me a really good pep talk and gave me this whole inspirational speech about never giving up and that’s what life’s about, sticking to it and never giving up. Through that, I’ve taken that with every thing I’ve done today and that’s the main reason I think I’ve been able to get where I am today is because I pursued and went through perseverance in all tasks that I take.”

Alodia Gosengfiao

“My dad never really told me this but I can see it in his actions. Like he always puts the family first no matter how busy he is. For example when he’s out of town, he comes home on a Sunday so he can spend time with us and then he flies out again the next day. Even if he’s so tired and what not, he really just wants to spend as much time as possible with us.”

Luis Manzano

“What I learned was not something he proactively taught me, it was something I observed. It’s how he is with people. He has this magical charisma with how he talks to people, how he deals with people. And siguro I would like to think na kahit papaano natutunan ko yun or namana ko yun from him.”

Atom Araullo

“My dad is an absolute role model and he always inspires me to be the best person that I can be. He has a good sense of right and wrong. He is quite humble. He lets other people shine and he’s just content to be in the background supporting supporting me and my sister and my mother. He set a high bar really. If I can be half the man he is, I would call my life successful. He’s an engineer. I took Applied Physics which is related.”

“Favorite memory ko pag pinapag-drive ako ng papa ko sa taping. Pero simula nung natuto akong mag-drive ako na lang. Memorable yun kasi ang layo ng age gap ko sa mga kapatid ko. 10 years and 12 years tapos ako ang bunso so mas closer ako kay mama kasi mas madalas ko siya kasama sa taping.”

“Daddy’s girl ako eh so every moment with him is special to me. I think what I learned from him is to keep on dreaming no matter what. Kasi un yung pinagkaparehas namin eh, yung aspirations namin talagang kakaiba so just keep on dreaming and follow your dreams no matter what happens. Namana ko sa kanya yung pagiging kalog, yung pagiging joker sa family at saka sa friends. Kasi corny siya so kapag nag-jo-joke ako naiisip ko, ‘Oh my God, parang ang corny nun so malamang kay Papa ko yun nakuha (laughs).’”
