Lea Salonga is proud to be part of Broadway show Once On This Island, which has 8 nominations this year.
For the first time since she first stepped on the Tony Awards stage to receive her trophy for Best Lead Actress in a Musical for Miss Saigon back in 1991, Lea Salonga revealed why her appearance in the highly-anticipated annual awards show this year is notable to her.
Set to perform with the rest of the cast of the Tony-nominated Broadway show Once On This Island, Lea Salonga wrote on Twitter: "I've been on the @TheTonyAwards stage a total of 3 times: first, to receive my Tony, second to perform in the opening number, and third to present. At this fourth time, I will be performing with the rest of the @OnceIslandBway cast.
"But, what makes this fourth time special is that this is the first time I'll actually be on the Tony stage with my cast representing our Tony-nominated show," she added.
"I wasn't on stage performing with the company of Miss Saigon in 1991, and the other shows I was in the original casts of weren't nominated. And I was a replacement in Les Miz, twice. So tomorrow will be very, very special. #FirstTimeForEverything," she continued.
Lea Salonga plays Goddess of Love Erzulie in Once On This Island which has a total of 8 nominations including Best Musical Revival.
