Bea Alonzo revealed on Magandang Buhay on Tuesday, May 8, that she considered quitting showbiz, “Oo. Hindi, totoo, tatlong beses.”
When asked why, the actress replied, “Siguro pagod. Burnout.” She then revealed that while filming the former show Maging Sino Ka Man, she began to question herself, “Syempre bata pa lang ako pinangarap kong mag-artista. Naisip ko eto na ba yun? Parang masaya ako pero hindi ito ‘yung ineexpect kong kasiyahan.”
She shared her feelings then with her mother, asking if she could quit. Her mother was very supportive and Bea said that she never forced her to do anything she didn’t want.
Bea then shared that she wanted One More Chance to be her last project, but had a change of heart after the movie.
“Tapos biglang nagkaroon ako ng ibang appreciation, parang there’s more to acting than kung ano pa lang yung natutunan ko,” she said, even relating it to a relationship with a ‘second wave’ of love.
She also revealed that the second time that she considered quitting was in 2012 before she did the movie The Mistress, saying this might be it for her career, while the third was during The Love Affair, saying that it was for personal reasons.
“You should always follow your heart. Follow your gut feel,” is what Bea learned throughout her years in the show business. “Kasi minsan when we overthink, doon nagkakaroon ng problema e, when we second guess ourselves. So you should always follow your heart, and pray,” she added.
