Anne Curtis talks about her culinary attempts and her ‘secret weapon’

“I consider myself lucky,” said Anne Curtis on being married to a fantastic chef, but she admitted that she gets that “kilig” when hubby Erwan Heusaff asks her to cook something for him. “Before, si Erwan ang laging nagluluto para sa akin. Ngayon, humihingi na siya sa akin ng lambing: Can you cook for me? Can you make me this?”

And the new wife is only happy to oblige. “As a wife, feel na feel ko. ‘Yung habang nagluluto, feel na feel mo rin talaga.” She gets so excited that she often asks Erwan to document her moments in the kitchen. “I’ll tell him: video me, para may pang-IG!”

The great thing about their marriage is how they are as partners and how they help each other be better versions of themselves. While the kitchen is Erwan’s domain, he willingly turns it over to his wife as she experiments with her culinary skills.

“Gina-guide niya ako, but he always challenges me first,” shared Anne. “Ang ginagawa niya, he’ll give me a recipe. Kapag nakikita niya na I need a hand, he’ll step in and help me.” Erwan would taste the dish, give a few suggestions, and let her do her thing.  “Most of the time, gusto niya, ako muna. Siya ‘yung magsasabi sa akin, pero hindi niya ginagawa para sa akin.”

During Erwan’s birthday, Anne’s cooking skills were tested when Erwan asked her to cook for him. “He wanted Thai food, so luto naman ako ng Thai food,” she shared. “Tapos that day, bigla niyang sinabi, ‘oh by the way, my whole family is coming.’ So I had to feed the whole family!” The verdict? “Nasarapan naman sila! Nakaka-boost ng confidence when you hear people say they love your cooking.”

Anne revealed her “secret weapon”, Ajinomoto’s Pork Savor and Chicken Savor, during Ajinomoto’s Big Day held at Oasis Manila. “Yun pala ang sikreto,” said Anne. “It makes life so much easier pala!”

She recently joined the Ajinomoto family as brand endorser, along with Marian Rivera, and Liza Soberano. “Sabi ko, pampadali ng buhay ‘yan! It’s definitely something that I would use. It’s something that we all use! Nasa ulam natin ‘yan, di ba?”

“For women out there, like me na bagong kasal, or kahit hindi ka man bagong kasal but you’re someone who’s curious about cooking and you want to try it out: Don’t be afraid,” assured Anne. “Ako nga, who would have thought. Maaaring hindi ka successful sa first try mo, pero ulit-ulitin mo lang. Makukuha mo rin ang tamang timpla. Lahat naman ng magagaling magluto ngayon, pinagdaanan din nila ‘yun noon. It’s just a matter of figuring out your confidence.”
