Krystal Brimner explains why impersonating Miley Cyrus was also an acting challenge for her.
As one of the talented contenders in the latest season of Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids, Krystal Brimner said she is enjoying the whole experience. “It’s super fun. Para sa akin yung pinakamahirap gawin yung ibang gender kasi mahirap yung boses kasi ako birit and girly eh yung mga boses ng mga lalake mahirap gayahin. Yung pinakamadali naman, mga babaeng icons kasi kung babae kayo mas madaling i-adapt. Lahat naman sila super galing so para sa akin lahat sila competition ko,” she shared with PUSH during the So Connected presscon under Regal Films.
The 11-year-old singer who is currently being homeschooled in order to accommodate her busy taping schedule said she wants to be able to impress YFSF judge Gary Valenciano the most. “For the show, the rehearsals would usually be everyday. It would be singing for one day and then the next day dancing and then singing and dancing on stage. For our choice of songs naman, sometimes nagtatanong sila kung sino ang gusto namin gayahin, pero sometimes naman bawal nila ibigay yung gusto namin. So sila yung pumipili,” she explained.
Even after giving impressive performances where she impersonated international singers like Miley Cyrus and Jessie J, Krystal said she still has her share of critics online. “Madaming mga bashers diyan. Ang sinasabi nila that they feel like Sheena is better than me or TNT is better than me. Pero sa akin naman, it’s not a competition, we’re all just friends. We’re all performing para ma-enjoy ng audience so yun yung sagot ko sa ganun. If I were to share who I’m closest to it would be Sheena kasi we’re the two older ones and also the TNT boys kasi they’re super funny and Chunsa kasi we get along really well and we’re both girly,” she said.
After kicking off the second season of the show by performing the Miley Cyrus hit “Wrecking Ball,” Krystal said it was not just a singing but acting challenge for her. “It was just practice and practice. Kasi what I really needed to practice there was I really needed to be very heartbroken pero hindi naman talaga (laughs). So super hirap. Basta may pinag-iisipan ako na masakit kahit wala namang masakit. Acting lang talaga,” she said.
When she’s not busy being in front of the camera, Krystal said she is just a regular person when at home. “For me, my attitude on camera and at home is definitely different pero it’s not much of a difference. Like I’m not super mataray at home. I really managed to be humble and just keep my feet on the ground. Yan yung laging sinasabi ni mommy na kailangan kong gawin para matuwa sa akin yung mga tao,” she added.
