Jed Madela wants to put up his own performing arts school: ‘Yun yung one of my ultimate goals’

After being launched as one of the new mentors for the Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids, Jed Madela said he is all set to work with the new batch of young talents this season. “Sobrang excited ako. Kasi personally I really love mentoring aspiring artists lalo na kids pa. Ang sarap ng feeling na nakaka-impart ako ng natututunan ko throughout the years lalo na sa mga kids. For example, pag may natuturo ako tapos ginawa nila, nakaka-fulfill as a mentor. So it’s a very exciting job,” he explained.

Jed shared how he plans to mentor the 10 young performers. “Every artist is different. Yung treatment ko sa pagturo, lalo na with these kids, yung ituturo ko sa tatlo na yung trio, hindi siya applicable siguro kay Esang or kay Marco or kay Noel. So very personalized. Ang ginagawa ko sa kanila kasi hahanapin ko mga strengths nila so I will use that strength. And if ever na may weakness sila, dun ang medyo aayusin natin so it’s very personalized, very unorthodox. I’m not the type na technical, I’m more on using what the artist has tapos dun ko pinapaganda,” he shared.

Aside from being part of the show, Jed said he can’t wait to have his own school. “Actually in the near future ang plan ko is to put up a school to teach performing arts, hindi lang sa pagkanta but how to be a performer on stage, how to entertain, how to stand, how to move, ganun. Yun yung one of my ultimate goals. Siguro yung talent management, it will follow. Pero ako it’s more of a school muna, more of a performing arts class siguro. In the future siguro towards the end of the year baka mapatayo na namin yun,” he said.

After launching his new music label Prime Music earlier this year, Jed gave an update on his plans. “Yung Prime Music which is under Star Music is doing okay. We have discovered a couple of artists. Pero ako pinakikiaalaman ko yung buong package kasi ayokong maglabas ng artist na alanganin pa. So we help the artist, we groom the artist first before they start recording and doing their albums or before sila ilabas sa public. We have a couple of artists na we already spotted na sobrang gagaling. Hindi sila yung typical na nakikita mo na mukha lang. I’m more for talent and personality. So hopefully probably next year sila lalabas kasi ngayon tinututukan namin yung album ko which is my 15th anniversary album. Unang unang release is under Prime Music which is still under Star Music,” he added.
