EXCLUSIVE: Allen Dizon details how he prepared for his deaf-mute role in ‘Bomba’

Fresh from his Best Actor win at the Asian Film competition of the 16th Dhaka International Film Festival in Bangladesh last January, Allen Dizon said he is happy his film Bomba will now get its local run in the upcoming Sinag Maynila film festival in select SM cinemas. Having been in showbiz for over two decades first as a ramp model before crossing over to acting, Allen admityed he was challenged by the role.

Allen said he prepared for his role by attending classes at the De La Salle-College of St. Benilde’s School of Deaf Education. “Every other day nandun ako for a month. So sign language talaga.

Even though it was his first time to work with director Ralston Jover, Allen said he understands the meticulous process before shooting. “Before the shoot maraming meetings, maraming pag-uusap, maraming readings. So before the shoot pa lang parang ready lahat kani kung paano yung mga eksena,” he explained.

In Bomba, Allen plays a deaf-mute man named Pipo who supports himself and his teenage lover Cyril (played by Angelline Nicholle Sanoy) who is more than 20 years his junior. Naging parang mag-asawa kami eh, ganun ang dating,” he shared.

The talented actor said that viewers will learn a lot from Bomba. Gusto ng movie sabihin na we are all human, pare-pareho tayong nagtatrabaho at may gustong gawin.

Watch Bomba at the 2018 Sinag Maynila Film Festival from March 7 to 15 in select SM Cinemas within Metro Manila.
