Long before Maja Salvador became a big name in the showbiz industry, the actress was already devotee of the Sto. Niño.
Newspaper columnist Ryan Mark made this revelation about the Wildflower actress through a lengthy Facebook post on Monday, February 5.
He recalled, “She was very young then, barely two years in the business, when she was invited by Gaisano Main Inc., to do a show in Balamban. I tagged along. But before we proceeded to Balamban, we passed by the basilica first upon her request because she wanted to light candles and whisper her prayers.
“While we were there, people were unmindful of her presence. This was during her Spirit Warriors teleserye days on ABS-CBN. We were together, and she whispered to me: kahit pagod na pagod kami sa set I always pray dahil gusto kong magpasalamat sa Kanya.”
“Pleased” and “amazed” by Maja’s devotion to the holy child, Ryan was happy and proud that many years after, Maja has been blessed with opportunities while remaining humble.
“The Maja Salvador I was with at the basilica years ago is now a very big name in the industry. But amidst her success she has remained humble. She knows what she wants, very sure of herself but has remained faithful to her devotion to Señor Sto. Nino.
“In fact, she revealed that she actually lined up last Fiesta Señor to say her thanks. She was there with friends, dawn of that Sunday. According to Maja, it's her mom who taught her about the Sto. Niño, who even claimed that when she gave birth to the actress, she saw the image of the holy child in a vision.
“The girl I was with many years back has metamorphosed into a very talented woman. A great actress of her generation, a total performer, patient and grateful. And she will be her (sic) to stay longer, her star will shine brighter, and she will reign higher. Simply because she has a very beautiful heart.”
Ryan is an entertainment writer of The Freeman Newspaper owned by The Philippine Star.
