Having tried her luck in Binibining Pilipinas thrice, Jehza Huelar’s hard work finally paid off after getting to represent the country and finish in the top ten of 2018 Miss Supranational held at Kyrnica-Zdroj, Poland last Saturday.
Nevertheless, her victory in the pageant wasn’t an easy feat, especially when she faced a wardrobe malfunction right after the hosts announced the finalists, in which she was included. In an Instagram Story she shared recently, Jehza showed that her ensemble, a silver beaded gown made by local bridal shop KNH Designs, was torn apart at the zipper.
While Jezha was able to handle the pressure with grace—despite the wardrobe malfunction, she still strutted her stuff down the runway successfully as if nothing happened—fans refuse to accept it as it is, and were convinced that the Davaoeña was actually sabotaged by a fellow competitor.
One fan account on Instagram claimed that the ruined gown was caused by a deliberate action of a person who wanted to put Jehza’s chances in the competition at stake.
“The dress was damaged not because of poor garments, but because it was deliberately done by someone who wanted to put her [Jehza] down,” wrote Pageant Feed Philippines in a lengthy caption. “It was damaged between dress rehearsals and after the announcement of top ten during finals night, which means she only saw the damage when she has to put it on for the evening gown competition.”
While it was impressive of Jehza on how she has pulled off the mishap, in the end, the Philippines’ bet was bested by Valeria Vasquez Latorre of Puerto Rico, who was given the title as this year’s Miss Supranational.
