Acclaimed author Paulo Coelho shared his thoughts on the 2009 Brillante Mendoza film Kinatay and he had nothing but praises for it.
The bestselling author described the movie which stars Coco Martin as “one of the most disturbing movies I watched in 2018.”
“Great screenplay, director, actors. A Filipino movie that, if it was directed by [Quentin] Tarantino, would be shortlisted for the Oscar,” Coelho added.
Coco was elated by the comment which he posted on his own social media account.
Kinatay is an award-winning film which bagged Brillante Mendoza the Best Director award at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. It also won two awards at the Sitges International Film Festival in Spain.
Coelho is best known for his books such as The Alchemist, The Devil and Miss Prym, and Eleven Minutes to name a few.
