Athlete and TV host Eric Tai, known to many as the Eruption, is soon to be a father of a baby boy.

The E-sports host held a sports-themed gender reveal with his wife, model Rona Tai, last Tuesday, wherein the former received the best Christmas gift by news of their having a baby boy, his preferred gender.

“This is one reason why I’ve been training deadlifts so darn much! Finally paid off! ... Best Christmas gift ever!,” said an ecstatic Eruption.

It was in August when the couple announced that they’re expecting their first child after years of trying to become pregnant. The baby was conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF).

In their previous joint interview on Amazing Race Asia Season 5 two years ago, both Eruption and Rona have expressed their wish of becoming parents. It was no secret that they wanted to win the money to afford IVF, as they could no longer conceive naturally due to the wife’s health complications.

The Tai couple first tied the knot on March 6, 2015 in a church wedding, then on May 25 the same year in a temple sealing ceremony as members of the religious and cultural group Mormons.
