Who encouraged Toni Gonzaga to be a producer of the ‘Mary, Marry Me’ movie?

Toni Gonzaga is not only a lead star of the new movie Mary, Marry Me, because she also acts as its producer. In an interview with the media at the press conference of the film, Toni was asked who encouraged her to become a movie producer.

Toni relayed, “Si Paul (Soriano) nag-push sa akin. Sabi niya pag natatakot ka mas gawin mo. If it’s something that scares you, you should do it more because you will never learn if you never try,” she said.

Asked what her realizations were after her experience as a producer, “Mahirap gumawa ng pelikula. Ngayon [naiitindihan ko] na feel na director na pag-trabahuan mo ng ilang buwan tapos pagpinapanood mo sa tao iba-bash lang nila na parang ganon-ganon lang. Hindi nila alam ‘yung puyat, pagod, hirap, dugo at pawis na pinagdaanan. Ngayon nafe-feel ko na kaya pala sensitive ‘yung ibang director kapag very critical sa film nila kasi nandon sila from the very beginning,” Toni shared.

Is she ready for the critics of their Metro Manila Film Festival movie? “I will always take everything in a constructive way to help me grow. I will try to filter what will benefit me and I will try to absorb kung ano ‘yung makakatulong sa amin.”

Aside from being a producer, Toni shared that she is interested to learn how to direct in the future. “It's been in the back of my head na i-try siya kasi I had so many concepts na pinipitch ko for Star Cinema then na approve ‘yung iba tapos iyon. Sana next year matuloy ang plans. Mag-aaral ako dito siyempre dahil ang gusto ko gumawa ng pelikulang pang Pilipino so kailangan kong aralin ang audience ng Pilipino,” she said.
