Among the millions of Filipino fans celebrating Catriona Gray’s success as Miss Universe 2018 are her ever-supportive parents, Normita Ragas Magnayon and Ian Gray, who couldn’t help but get emotional upon witnessing their daughter’s crowning moment this Monday in Bangkok, Thailand.
In a video shared by Dyan Castillejo, the Gray couple was recorded shedding tears of joy after Emmy-award winning host Steve Harvey announced that Catriona, representing the Philippines, just won the coveted beauty pageant.
“Let’s watch this moment again and look at her parents tears of joy. Proud moment. For the second [time] in three [years], I witnessed firsthand another Miss Universe crowned! So much to tell, just sharing initially our shout of celebration right in front of the stage,” wrote the ABS-CBN Sports reporter on Instagram.

Meanwhile, in another behind-the-scenes video uploaded by a certain Demy Rendon on Facebook, Catriona was spotted loosening up to Ne-Yo’s music as the singer serenaded the top three finalists – including South Africa’s Tamaryn Green, and Venezuela’s Sthefany Gutierrez – just minutes before the coronation part, much to her fellow Pinoys’ delight.
“Yung ramdam mo nang panalo ka,” wrote the netizen, along with the hashtags #MissUniverse and #MissPhilippines
The 24-year-old beauty queen recently made history as the fourth Filipina to have been crowned Miss Universe, next to Pia Wurtzbach, Margie Moran, and Gloria Diaz, who won in 2015, 1873, and 1969, respectively.
In her first interview as the newest reigning queen, Catriona said that she’s grateful for the huge amount of support she has received from her family, friends, and fans all throughout her journey.
“Sa lahat ng Filipino and all the fans, thank you so much for all the love and support thus far. And wow, mga kababayan, I’m so happy to give you the best Christmas gift ever,” said the Filipino-Australian beauty.
