Over 25 years later, her momentous finish as second-runner up in Miss World 1993 is still vivid in Ruffa Gutierrez’s memory.
Last November 28, the actress reminisced on her “vintage beauty queen days” by reposting a montage of her Miss World stint from Pageanthology 101, a fan page dedicated to the reportage of beauty pageants the world over, on Instagram.
“Exactly 25 years ago today, Filipina actress Sharmaine Ruffa Gutierrez was crowned Second Princess at Miss World 1993 in Sun City, South Africa. Gutierrez began acting as a teen in the 1980s, under Golden Lion & Regal Films. She became part of German Moreno's ‘That's Entertainment’ in 1987 before becoming a beauty queen in 1993,” reads an excerpt of the caption detailing the early days of her career.
Ruffa placed second to Miss World 1993 titleholder, Lisa Hanna of Jamaica.
