One of the most prolific OPM artists of all time, Jose Mari Chan never ceases to amaze Filipinos of all ages with his music. And once September comes in, his Christmas songs start playing all over the archipelago—from malls to PUVs to almost every Christmas event, you can hear him everywhere.
Having turned 73 last March, Jose Mari Chan continues to dominate radio airplay throughout the year through the timeless hits that he produced over the years. But does he still feel pressured to write or produce another hit?
"I'm content with the songs that I've written. I'm content that many of these songs have touched people's lives. So at this stage in my life, I'm content. Contentment is at the center of happiness," he said during an exclusive interview with PUSH.
While he isn't getting any younger, the OPM legend says he doesn't have any plans to retire any time soon.
"For as long as there are people in the audience who want to hear my songs, I will continue to sing for them," the "Christmas In Our Hearts" hitmaker said.
But before he retires, he surprisingly revealed that he wants to sing with Kapamilya artists Maja Salvador, Bea Alonzo, and Kathryn Bernardo.
"I'd like to sing with Maja Salvador, with Bea Alonzo, and maybe with Kathryn Bernardo," he revealed.
Explaining why he picked them among all the young artists today, he stated: "Well, because I'd like to sing with young people so that I can also reach the young audience."
Produced by MetroEsthetiCo Skin and Wellness Center in association with STARMEDIA Entertainment and Solaire Resort & Casino, Jose Mari Chan’s Christmas show Going Home To Christmas is happening on December 22 at the Theatre at Solaire with Rita Daniela as his special guest.
