Hindi ba mahirap maging anak ng prominent showbiz figures like Bibeth Orteza who is a very good writer and Carlito Siguion-Reyna na isa namang award-winning director?

“Actually, nung una nakaka-pressure, of course. Naaalala ko nung nag-a-acting workshop ako with Tita Gina (Alajar), ang comment niya sa akin, ‘Alam mo ang problema mo is gusto mong maging magaling sa workshop.’

“Parang you can’t be a good actor, sabi niya sa akin, kung gusto ko raw maging magaling. So, I still remember that to this day kasi pag gumagawa ako ng role or playing a part dapat yung intensyon mo is hindi dapat magaling ka, dapat character talaga yung importante.

“At the start, parang nakaka-pressure siya (maging Siguion-Reyna) but the longer I’ve been in the industry, which is now siguro five years na rin, I’ve realized that it’s actually very helpful, eh,” dire-diretsong pahayag ni Rafa who started his career bilang theater actor.

“Yung magulang ko very big mentors for me. I have people to look up to.

“Kung magkamali ako or I made a mistake, sorry lang, diretso lang. Kung napagalitan ako, it’s not personal. These are things that I learned from them, they taught me how to carry myself in the industry and they’ve been very helpful,” sagot ng binata.

I’m certainly afforded more opportunities because of the connections I’ve had.

“Parang I just feel like it’s up to me to make the most of the connections. Kaya ako nagti-teatro para I will learn my craft, and the discipline. I think it’s important for me to learn what I have to do for my craft. Kumbaga, kung kinuha ako ng director o producer, they need to know that I know how to do my job, so yon ang importante for me.”

“I think, people who’ve they had good relationships with are kind to me because they’ve a good relationship with my parents or family, so nakakatulong talaga,” sey pa niya.

Parang I feel like there still things left for me to do as an actor, so gusto ko munang dito mag-concentrate.

“Last year was very good for me. I’m happy with the projects that we’re getting and yung role ko nga sa Goyo as brother ni Paulo Avelino ang mako-consider kong biggest role ko sa film. It’s been a very good year, I’m just riding the wave,” katwiran pa niya.
