The newest star of the leading Primetime Bida series said that she actually auditioned for the role of Roxanne Constantino.
As the newest character to play against Julia Barretto’s Eva in “Ngayon at Kailanman”, Elisse Joson couldn’t be any happier that she was chosen for the role of Roxanne Constantino – childhood friend and love interest of Joshua Garcia’s Inno – which she has prepared and auditioned for months back. “It’s good for me, because dito ko pwedeng ipakita yung iba’t ibang pwede kong gawin. Hindi lang iisa. Natutuwa po ako kasi nacha-challenge ko yung sarili ko to push my limits, or even way past it. Yung parang, [outside of the box],” shared the young actress in a bloggers conference held at the ABS-CBN HQ on Thursday.
Having worked together on the now-defunct television series, “The Good Son”, Elisse said that her first day on the shoot with Joshua went pretty smooth. “Si Julia po, kagabi lang [kami] nagkaroon ng eksena, and yung eksena pa na nakunan namin first is very intense. Kaya yun yung dapat niyong abangan. I think tonight magsho-show yun. Una kong time siyang makatrabaho, and it’s a very intense scene pa. So, ako, kaya. Kaya naman.”
Unsurprisingly, the close-to-kontrabida character also came with criticism from a few fans, particularly from the strong fanbase of JoshLia. For someone who has experienced working with a love team partner, Elisse revealed that all this isn’t new to her – in fact, it was one thing that she has accepted from the beginning. “Well, since I got the role ‘din po, in-expect ko na talaga na may mga bash. May mga hindi makakatanggap ng pag-pasok ko sa story. Pero, ako po, I’m just doing my job. Sa ‘kin, ‘yang bash na ‘yan, super sanay na po talaga ako diyan.”
When asked for her sentiment on being separated from her former love team partner and rumored ex-boyfriend McCoy de Leon, Elisse said that the prospect of going solo has already been discussed between the two in the past. “Napag-usapan din po namin ‘yan even when we were still doing projects together as a love team na madalas. Sinabi na rin naman po namin na dadating din yung time na we need to take projects separately kasi growth din yun ng artista, eh.”
Meanwhile, the former Pinoy Big Brother housemate couldn’t hold back her tears as she thanked Star Creatives for trusting her with this once in a lifetime opportunity. “Hindi ko in-expect na ibibigay nila nang ganito kaaga. And since wala pa naman po akong ganun napapatunayan na, they took the risk to give me the character even if they’re not sure about it. Kaya gusto kong gawin yung best ko for this one, kasi yun yung balik ko sa kanila for giving me this chance.”
Aside from this new project, Elisse is also looking forward to promoting her new film with McCoy, which is set to premiere in cinemas in January 2019.
