Many noticed long-time Kapamilya star Toni Gonzaga’s absence at the ABS-CBN Ball on September 29. In an interview with Toni’s husband, Paul Soriano, the director shared the reason behind his wife’s non-attendance in the major event.

“Well actually it was my son’s birthday on September 30 so we planned a trip to L.A. about a couple of months ago. Even before the Ball was announced we already planned that we wanna bring Seve to Los Angeles on his second birthday. We already planned the trip so even me, like, I’m in the middle of promoting the film, I took a week off to celebrate the second birthday of my son Seve in Los Angeles, it’s where I’m from, eh. I want to show him where I was born,” Paul said in an interview at the First Love press conference.

Speaking of Seve, the director was asked by the press if they are planning to give their son a sibling soon. Paul replied, “We’re still enjoying, we’re still embracing Seve. Wala pang plans but we definitely want another one but right now we are just enjoying Seve.”

Meanwhile, the director is now busy promoting his new movie with Aga Muhlach and Bea Alonzo titled First Love. Paul shared that doing a movie with Aga is a dream come true.

“Definitely this [is a] one big dream come true, to get an Aga Muhlach to say yes to working with you, to say, ‘Yes Paul I wanna work with you.’ And you put a Bea Alonzo to that equation, the dream got huge, the dream got big. And the fact that it is now a reality, you know, because it was just a dream,” he said.

Paul admitted that making Aga say yes to doing a movie with him was a long process. “‘Yung first couple of concepts [sabi niya], ‘Parang hindi ko ‘to type pero Paul I want to work with you.’ And then true enough finally when I pitched this concept he said this is the concept we are going to do. With Aga Muhlach you have to earn it. It’s worth the fight. It’s worth the challenge,” he stated.
